Aircraft on Ground (AOG) Specialist
Job Summary
The Aircraft on Ground (AOG) Specialist is responsible for coordinating and resolving aircraft technical issues that result in operational disruptions or unscheduled grounding. This role ensures rapid response, effective troubleshooting coordination, and efficient logistics management to return aircraft to service safely and promptly while maintaining full regulatory compliance.
The AOG Specialist collaborates closely with maintenance control, engineering, logistics, suppliers, and flight operations to minimize aircraft downtime and operational impact.
Key Responsibilities
AOG Response & Coordination
- Monitor fleet status and identify Aircraft on Ground (AOG) situations affecting operations.
- Act as the central point of contact for all AOG events.
- Initiate immediate response procedures to resolve aircraft grounding issues.
Technical Troubleshooting Support
- Review aircraft maintenance data, technical logs, and defect reports.
- Assist in troubleshooting mechanical, structural, avionics, and system-related failures.
- Coordinate with engineering teams to determine corrective actions.
Logistics & Parts Coordination
- Expedite procurement and shipment of critical aircraft components and tooling.
- Coordinate with supply chain and logistics providers to ensure rapid delivery.
- Track shipment status and provide updates on repair timelines.
Maintenance & Operational Support
- Coordinate with line and base maintenance teams for corrective actions.
- Ensure all maintenance activities follow approved manuals and technical data.
- Support maintenance planning adjustments due to AOG events.
Regulatory Compliance
- Ensure all actions comply with aviation regulations and company procedures.
- Verify proper documentation of maintenance activities and AOG resolutions.
- Maintain accurate records in maintenance tracking systems.
Communication & Reporting
- Provide continuous updates to maintenance control, operations control, and management.
- Prepare AOG reports detailing root causes and corrective actions.
- Participate in post-event reviews to improve response processes.
Qualifications
- Diploma or degree in Aircraft Maintenance Engineering, Aviation Maintenance Technology, or Aerospace Engineering.
- AME License or equivalent certification preferred.
- Minimum 5 years of experience in aircraft maintenance, maintenance control, or technical operations.
- Experience in airline operations, MRO environments, or Maintenance Operations Control (MOC).
Technical Knowledge
- Aircraft maintenance procedures and troubleshooting
- Aircraft systems: mechanical, electrical, avionics, and structures
- Familiarity with technical documentation, including:
- Aircraft Maintenance Manual (AMM)
- Structural Repair Manual (SRM)
